The Harris County One Health Action Hub (HCOHAH) is a multi-discplinary collaboration between conservationists, public health experts, environmental quality advocates, urban and regional planners, landscape architects, academic institutions, governments, community groups, nonprofits, and for profits working to catalyze more nature-based solutions to positively impact the One Health (human, environmental, and biodiversity health) of communities. simultaneously. Nature-based solutions unleash the power of nature, including forests, prairies, and wetlands to protect us from flooding and heat, uplift our mental and physical health, and help wildlife.
The HCOHAH started as a response to the intersected issues of flooding, extreme heat, poor air quality, lack of equitable greenspace, and biodiversity loss faced by Harris County and Houston-Galveston residents. We believe that only by working across connected landscapes - rural to urban to bay - in integrated ways, can we really create a more resilient, healthy, verdant, and enjoyable place.
We are mapping the health of humans, the environment, and wildlife/animal health on the same map to take action in our communities. Click here to learn more.
We host monthly meetings and are starting action teams. Want to join us? Click here to get us your information and interest!
